What to Expect at Your Second Opinion Visit

When you contact our office for a second opinion, we’ll work with your busy schedule to find the best time for you to come in for a visit. If possible, we ask that you bring a written treatment plan from your other dentist and a copy of your most recent x-rays.
Here’s what you can expect when you arrive:
- Records review — We’ll review your dental records and x-rays and examine your teeth and gums.
- Independent evaluation — We’ll evaluate your dental needs and customize a treatment plan just for you.
- Detailed discussion — Our caring team will walk you through your proposed treatment plan and explain all your options and alternatives, answering your questions along the way.
Common Treatments We Review
Offering second opinions is not new to our practice, and here are some of the most common treatments we review:
- Root canals vs. fillings — We can evaluate whether you truly need a root canal and crown or if a standard composite filling is enough.
- Tooth extractions vs. saving the tooth — We always try to save your natural tooth from extraction, so we look at whether your tooth can be saved.
- Conservative restorations — Instead of removing natural tooth structure to make room for a crown, we examine whether a more conservative restoration might work.
- Orthodontics — We’ll look at whether clear aligner therapy is an option instead of traditional braces.
- Cosmetic plans — For cosmetic treatment plans, we’ll work with you to tailor a plan suited to your treatment timeline and budget.
